A Girl & Her Pop-Pop – CTMH Seaside

Hello Everyone!

I won’t even tell you it’s been awhile because you already know.  Life just seems to be getting in the way these days, but I’m glad to say that I took some time today and crafted!

I’ve been wanting to use the Seaside Paper Pack for awhile now.  I knew I had the perfect picture, so it was just a matter of time and yes, time was today.  I really like the way it came out and it’s probably one of my favorites.  Not because it’s incredibly good or anything, but it has pictures of TWO of my favorite people!  My daughter Izabella and Pop-Pop.

Pop-Pop has always been an incredibly special person to me… and my girls.  My dad died at the very young age of 50 and my Uncle Frank (aka Pop-Pop) took over that father / grandfather figure roll.  Who better to fill that roll?  My Dad and him were best buddies.  We were always together… always.  In fact, he walked me down the aisle when Jack and I married.  The nicest man you would ever meet.  Kind, generous… loving.  Anyway, I hope my girls always remember how special he is and how much he loves them.  So… onto the layout!

As you know, I’m a Close to My Heart distributor and have been for the last several months.  I really love their products… their paper… their card stock… their embellishments.  If you are paper crafter, card maker, scrapbooker, check out my Close to My Heart Store.  Oh and a new catalog is coming out soon, so if you see anything in the current one, better grab it fast.  Here we go!

Creativity…

So, I was chit-chatting with a friend the other day who had asked me to accompany her craft shopping.  She was contemplating buying a Cricut, but I had to admit to her that I wasn’t the one to ask about the latest and greatest Cricut.  I have a Silhouette Cameo and as much as I might like to, right now I really can’t justify the expense of another digital cutter. My husband would kill me… dead.  😀

Anyway, I had sent her some links to a couple of the Meetup Groups I’m in for scrapbooking, trying to encourage her to join me, but said friend told me she wasn’t very creative.  <gasp>  Now granted, you have to have SOME creativity for scrapbooking, but now a day’s the companies make it so easy.  Close to My Heart, for example… they offer Workshops on the Go for both scrapbooking and card-making.  These kits have everything you need – patterned paper, cardstock, embellishments AND an instructional guide to create layouts if you choose to use theirs.  What I also noticed, just the other day in fact, is that on the zip strip  of each patterned paper it lists the colors of ink and cardstock that would go with the patterned paper.  It doesn’t get much simpler than that!  Love it!

So, tonight… I pulled out a Workshop on the Go and headed to Pinterest for a sketch.  Here’s the one I settled on:

And this is what I’ve come up with:

So my friend (who shall remain nameless.. ahem.. Karen)… I DO think you can do this.  In fact, I know you can!  Looking forward to you joining me!

Peace Out!  Ohhhh and check out my CTMH page!!!

Really Time to Get My Craft On – Really!

Hello there everyone!  Yes, it’s been quite some time… again! I really have not done much in the way of card-making for the last several months, so I’ve not really had much to post. However, I’ve been scrapbooking.

I’m currently working on our Disneyland album from our trip in 2013. That album is just taking forever! After that I have our Disney World trip of 2014 to scrap. I have to say though, doing nothing but Disney is getting kind of old.

I’ve also been trying to hit as many crops as possible. I went to the Scrapbook Summit in Simsbury, Ct this past year and LOVED it! Loved it so much that I’ll be going back again this year! I also have a fairly local one that I enjoy about 30 mins away. It’s just a day crop, but it’s perfect. They are held about once a month and I’ve met some really nice people there. There always have a couple of vendors. One in particular that always has great classes – Andrea with Close To My Heart.

Anyway, there really is a point to this post, I promise. At the last local crop I went to, I signed up for Andrea‘s class and as usual, I was not disappointed. Yes, I was… Simply Smitten!

Simply Smitten by Andrea

It’s a great layout and I’m still looking for the most perfect pictures to add to it. I’ll be sure to post it when I’ve added them!

So I got to thinking about how much I really like the Close To My Heart Products. It’s really the best of both worlds for me. Great Paper and Great Stamps! All in once place!  I spent a lot of time checking out Andrea‘s CTMH page and started asking her questions… Lots of them! In fact, so many that we decided it was best to continue on the phone rather than Facebook Messenger. And yea, this is how I decided to become a Close To My Heart Consultant!  I really wanted to do this, but I had some concerns. Really… one concern… parties.    I. Don’t. Do. Parties. For me, there is nothing worse than having a party, inviting all these guests and having them purchase products out of obligation. Products they will never use. You know. We have all done it. She put my mind at ease and I ordered my starter kit!

So, after I made my decision, I went to my craft space and realized… it’s a MESS! There wasn’t an inch of space to be had on that table. It took awhile to clean up, but I did it. I then went to my paper stash to try and figure out what CTMH products I already had because I knew I had a few. Why wait until I get my starter kit to create something? I pulled out a paper pack that I had one at the local crop and decided to use that. It’s a retired paper pack, beautiful nonetheless. Click here to check out some of the other paper packs they have to offer.

Not feeling very creative, I took to Pinterest to check out some of the scrapbook sketches I had previously saved for time just like this. This one in particular caught my eye.

Found on Pinterest

I now had the perfect sketch for the Flirty paper pack. I just needed to find some pictures. I had recently come across some older pictures of my mom as some members of my mom’s family have gotten together on Facebook to share some ancestry information. These were perfect, only I would have to wait for them to be printed as I didn’t want to use the originals. It was then that I decided to finally buy that portable photo printer my husband had given me last year for my birthday. At the time I had hundreds of pictures already printed from our trip, so I didn’t want to buy the printer then and just have it sit, so I told him to wait. Well, now was the time as I can see the way I scrapbook start to change. I did some research because I was torn between the Canon Selphy & the Epson Picturemate Charm. I decided on the Selphy as it seemed to have better reviews AND it was probably about $100 cheaper. So, off he went and I started working on my layout. By the time he got home (he had some other places to go), I was ready to print those pictures. And here is my finished layout. I think I like it. In fact I love it!

I Wonder If My Husband Misses Me

So, I’ve spent the entire weekend thus far in my craft area. So much so that my bottom hurts from sitting in this chair! BINGO BUTT!!  I’ve crafted, I’ve messed with my new computer, external hard drives, etc. I feel somewhat accomplished. 🙂 Oh… and I also spent some time on Bloglovin, looking at blogs I used to follow religiously. Ran across some challenge blogs I’ve enjoyed in the past, so… I thought it would be a good idea to enter some.

challenge-48

This challenge is from ablognamedhero.  Ah, the One-Layer card!  I have to say… one-layer cards are NOT my favorite!  Why?  Well, if you make a mistake, it’s a lot harder to fix.  So, I attempted it anyway.  It took two tries though.  The first card I made I used Post-It tape to mask it off and well, the ink bled through right to the cardstock.  🙁  I won’t be using that for masking anymore.  I used the stamp set that was with the Simon Says Stamp – June 2o14 – Kit of the Month. The kit doesn’t appear to be available any longer, but I will link up the stamp set. Anyway, here is the card I made for the challenge!

20140718-IMG_7505

I *REALLY* love this card!  I love the stamps, I love the  bright colors & the crisp edge.  I had thought about using a black marker to define the edge, but opted against it.  Have a fabulous Sunday everyone!!!

Peace Out!

Wow! Do I remember how to do this???

Yes, it’s been that long!  It’s been so long that it all feels new to me.  I could give you a million reasons why I haven’t posted… why I haven’t stamped… why I haven’t scrapped… yada, yada, yada.  Eh… it just happens.  Anyway, I made a card. Yes, yes I did.

I wasn’t really sure where to start, so I started with a sketch and a kit.

Here is the sketch I used from Operation Write Home – Sketch 233.

233

I also used the Simon Says Stamp June 2014 Kit of the Month.  It doesn’t seem to be available any longer, but I will link the stamp set below.  Anyway, I made my card and then I got a bit carried away and made 4 more.  More than I’ve made in the last year.  Here is the first one:

20140718-IMG_7508

I like the first card I did.  The ONLY thing I’m a little disappointed in is that I didn’t have any decent off white paper to stamp on which is why you see the spotchy flowers.

Here are the rest:

So… Here you have it!  I crafted AND I blogged!  😀  And let me tell you… the blogging took a lot longer than I anticipated.  A new computer, trying to figure out Lightroom & WordPress… Just whooped me!  😀  I hope you enjoyed them.

Peace Out!

Summer Camp!!! Summer Card Camp that is! – Day 1

SCC2_participant1

Hi Everyone!  Well, I’m excited today because Summer Card Camp 2 has started!  Unfortunately I didn’t participate in Card Camp 1, but I know I won’t be disappointed as I have LOVED every onlinecardclass that I have EVER taken.  I’ve tried others, but I just love the way this one is set up and so, if it’s not broke, you don’t fix it!

Anyway, I’m still a bit under the weather, but I was able to watch the entire class AND make a card as well.  I had high hopes of making more than one, but well… there’s this thing that gets in the way, it’s call … WORK.  We haven’t won the LOTTO, so off I must go.  I really enjoyed the class as usual.  Unfortunately I can’t share too many details with you other than my card itself, but, I highly recommend you check the class out.  Go… go right now!!!  Wait… check out my card first and THEN go check it out by clicking right here.

Here is the color palette I used for my card:

And here is the card that I made.  Have I told you yet how much I adore this stamp set by My Favorite Things?  Oh right.. yeah.. I have!  😀

Who Loves a Parade? – A Card Parade That Is!

OWH

Hello everyone!  Well, it’s been one of THOSE kind of weeks in my household.  BLEH!  On the very same day, my kid came down with a fever and I came down with an earache.  Anyway, before all that happened I was looking for inspiration for my card making and decided to call on my Facebook friends/family for help.  Knowing that Operation Write Home had 179 sketches to choose from, I asked my Facebook friends/family to choose a number from 1 to 179 and that I would create a card based on the first response.  Well, of course you know I had more than 1 response and how could I say no.  So, off I set to make the cards.  Fortunately I was able to make MOST of the before I got too ill.  Yeah.. 6 days of an ear infection.  1 Doctor visit, 1 ER visit and 1 ENT visit and I’m not all that much better… BLEH!  Soooo here we go!

Who loves a parade?  I love a parade and well, so does Melissa as I first read about card parades on her blog.  You ought to go check her out.  She makes the best cards!!! And well, I kinda love her.  😀  She’s great and has been very helpful to me on my little card creating venture.  So, let’s start this parade!  Dontcha hear the marching band? No? Yeah… me neither. LOL!  First up…

#121

My cousin Pamela O. picked this number as her very cute, adorable, baby boy was born on 12/10.  Here is the OWH sketch that corresponds this number:

121

And here is the card that I made to go along with the sketch.  Not bad eh?

Here are some of the main supplies used for this card:

Next up we have:

#44

This was chosen by the lovely Tracy P!   The OWH sketch that corresponds to this number is:

Sketch-44

The sketch itself is kinda on the eh… simple side, but I do think I did it justice.  Here is the card I made from this sketch.  Isn’t she lovely?  😀

IMG_6772

IMG_6774

Here are some of the supplies I used on this card.  The paper was received as a gift, so I don’t know the manufacturer of it, so if anyone knows, please let me know and I will edit this to add to it.  The digital stamp is from Pink Cat Studio.

Next in our card parade we have:

#81

This number was chosen by my coworker/friend Christine W. or Christine F.B.W or just Chris!  😀  The girl has more names than anyone I know.  😀  Here is the OWH sketch that corresponds to the number:

81

Now, I didn’t have that exact shape for the middle of the card.  Yeah, I know… I’m surprised too!  Anyway, I chose something similar and off I went.  Here is the card I made:

Cute huh?

Here are some of the main supplies used for this card:

Next in the card parade is:

#69

My long-time friend Mark O. picked this number because well… he’s just bad and anyone who knows him knows… he’s just bad!  LOL!  So, I rolled with it and here is the sketch that corresponds to this number:

69

So off to my stamps and markers I went and here is what I came up with.  It’s cute, right?

And once again, here are the main supplies:

So, of course Jack had to get in on the parade and he chose the following number for Highway 101 in Ca!:

#101

Here is the corresponding OWH Sketch:

101

And here is the card I made using this sketch:

Once again, I used paper given to me, so I don’t know the manufacturer, but here are some additional supplies I used for the card:

Now, last, but not at all least in the card parade is:

#88

Another long time friend Marni picked this number and well, I won’t tell you WHY she did, but uh… let’s just say, her and Mark would make a great pair! Birds of a feather, ya know?   LOL!  Here is the OWH sketch that corresponds to this number:

88

And here is my final card for the Card Parade!

I really hope you enjoyed the parade as much as I enjoyed it!  To my friends/family on Facebook – Thank you!!!  I’m certain these cards will make the family of one of our Great Heroes VERY happy!

Peace Out!

Can’t help it… I love it!

Hi Everyone!  If you look on over to the right hand side of my blog and down a bit, you’ll see a new badge – “10 Minute Craft Dash – FAVORITE”!!!  Woohoo!  Yes, I’m excited to say that I earned the “favorite” badge from prettypinkposh.com and I couldn’t be happier.  I often question how I’m doing as a paper crafter.  I only have a small handful of followers (which I’m thankful for), so comments are few and far between which causes one to wonder… Is it me?? LOL  😀  Anyway, I’ve gotten a lot of feed back on the card I submitted for the 10 Minute Craft Dash #20 and I’m thankful for it.

I have to tell you.  I just love that stamp set by My Favorite Things.  So much so that I had to use it again for my next card, which I’ll be entering in the Moxie Fab World – Tuesday Trigger: Scene in Tangerine!  This is my first challenge on this site and I’m pretty excited about it.  Here is the Tuesday Trigger which inspired the card:

Scene in Tangerine

I have to admit, the inspiration for me was the colors.  Very summery & bright.  So here is what I created with my inspiration:

IMG_6755

IMG_6756

Aren’t those roses just gorgeous?  It’s really a great stamp set!  And the Technique Tuesday – Loving Words sentiments are perfect!

I’d like to be a little cheesy here, if I may… 😀  and dedicate this card to all the wonderful paper crafter’s that have come in to my life the last couple of years, some of which have become good friends (you know who you are).  I am thankful for each and every one of you!  I hope you enjoyed my card.

Peace Out!
