Pretty Pink Posh – 10 Minute Craft Dash #20

Hey Everyone!  So an uber talented friend of mine runs a little challenge called the 10 Minute Craft Dash! You really must check out Paulina’s blog.  She has some really great stuff.  Anyway, I’ve always been intimidated by this Craft Dash and swore I would only do it once she changed the name to the 10 Hour Craft Dash!  LOL 😀  Truth of the matter is that I had tried it previously and failed miserably!  So, I’d been perusing her blog since I was out of commission and not able to do much and the colors from the challenge really appealed to me, so once my wrist would let me, I attempted it!

It took me 10 minutes and 11 seconds. Do you believe that!  Off by 11 seconds!  I think I got carried away with the sequins!  😀  Anyway, I’m going to say that I met the challenge because one of the rules is that you’re able to gather your supplies PRIOR to starting the clock and well, I didn’t realize until I needed it that I never pulled out the card stock for the card base.  So yeah, that TOTALLY took me at least 11 seconds to find!  😀  I hope you like my card!

Peace Out!

OWH Sketch Challenge #178

Hello Everyone!  Well, I’ve been out of commission the last few days or so, but everything is now A-OK!  We like that!  No, in fact… we love that!  I wanted to share a card I made with you last Sunday for Operation Write Home’s Sketch Challenge #178.  Here is the sketch:

I wanted to have a different take on the sketch.  I didn’t want it EXACTLY like the sketch, but I didn’t want to stray to far either.  So my idea was to take the 1.5 X 3.25 section and actually make it a window.  I didn’t want to use a die to cut it though because I knew I would never be able to line them all up, so I pulled out my trusty Bosskut Gazelle and cut the shapes that way.  Worked like a charm!  It worked so well I made 2 cards.  Both cards are using paper from the Simon Says Stamp June 2013 Card Kit.

I hope you enjoyed them!

Peace Out!

Struggling with Masculinity…

Yeah… the title kind of makes you wonder about me, doesn’t it?  LOL!  😀  Actually what I REALLY struggle with is making masculine cards.  I’m a female… I have 2 daughters.  I’m a flowery, feminine kinda crafter, so jumping OUT of that box is scary.  I’ve not done it often, as you can see by scrolling through my blog.

So today’s card… MASCULINE.  I found this cute little “Whimsy Turtle” digital image by Katie Sowa at Whimsy Stamps.  Is it too adorable to be masculine?  Bleh… whatever!  😀  Anyway, colored him with Copic markers & paired him with some masculine patterned paper & card stock and voila – MASCULINE!

I hope you enjoyed my card!  Have a great week!

Peace Out!

Gelatos Anyone?

Wow… it’s been almost 2 weeks since I posted!  I apologize, life is just getting in the way right now.  It’s not as if I’m not creating, because I am.  I just haven’t had much time to spend on a card that I consider “blog-worthy”.  Anyway, I made these cards a couple months ago, just never posted them.  So, today… is the day!

Gelatos? Well, the last I knew you could get a Gelato in Little Italy.

… a truly yummy treat, however… in the paper-crafting world, Faber Castell has taken “Gelatos” to a whole new level.  Hmm… how to describe them?  They’re like paint in a chapstick container!  They are so smooth and go on so easily.  You can use them “as is” or use them with water!  The colors are so intense and they blend so nicely!

My first attempt was to take the colors and color directly on the stamp.  Then I took a mini-mister filled with water, sprayed my stamp and then stamped the paper!  Not bad!  Simple and so pretty!

My 2nd attempt was to use another product that I hadn’t used before.  Gesso!  I didn’t even know HOW to use it, so I set off to do some research.  I decided in the end to just put some down haphazardly onto my card-stock that I had already misted with Dylusions Spray Ink.  I smoothed it out, somewhat and then I applied Versamark to the background stamp and stamped the Gesso, giving it a lot of texture.  Then I impatiently waited for it to dry.  I’m not good at waiting, so I ended up using my heat gun to help speed up the process.  Then I just started coloring on the color, taking my finger and blending them out.  A very cool and “new for me” technique.

So… take a minute and comment below.  Tell me what you think.  I’d like to know if you have used Gelatos before and perhaps what different techniques you have tried.  Thanks for taking the time to visit!

Peace Out!

the Sky’s the Limit…

Hello Everyone! The school year is over for my oldest (college) and just about over for my little one. She graduates Kindergarten next Wednesday! Imagine that! Seems like just yesterday she was a teeny tiny, less than 4lb baby! Anyway, my point… it seems that the weeks are just SO busy anymore. Between doctor’s appointments & birthday parties, there is always something. I do, however, find time to do some paper-crafting, most nights. Even if it’s just for a little bit.

The card I have for you today is a card I can admit to liking a WHOLE lot. The pictures don’t seem to do it justice. I wanted to do something different with the Lawn Fawn stamp set and I believe I have. I stamped the images on vellum with Versamark & then heat embossed with gold embossing powder. I then colored them from the back with Copic markers, using the following markers: BG45, BG49, B02, Y28, R22. I adhered the images with small amounts of Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue.

Well, that’s all for now!  Have a great weekend everyone!

Peace Out,

Love Blooms Here…

Hello Everyone!  I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend.  I know for myself, yeah, it was pretty spectacular.  We attended the wedding of a very special person.  I had known her all her life.  Baby-sat for her when she was first born.  Needless to say, I was feeling like “my baby” got married!  It was a beautiful ceremony and long overdue.  They’d been together 15 years, but… some things are worth the wait and one of those things is… LOVE! <3  I just LOVE happy endings… and new beginnings!

All of this leads me to this card.  I just love the digital stamp selection at Whimsy Stamps! This one happens to be the Pretty Petals 2 Collection from StampArt Design by Kathryne©. I just love the cute little flowers, colored in copics!

That’s all for now!  Enjoy your week & Happy Monday!

Peace Out,
