His & Hers – Day 1

Hello Everyone!  Yes, it’s been awhile.  I attended a 3 day crop this past weekend and had a lovely time!  I met a few new scrap-booking buddies and I’m thrilled!  Really nice group of girls.  Anyway, I spent a few days or so before the crop getting ready, ya know… packing everything I own and then some.  So very thankful for my teenager that lugged it all up and down the stairs without hardly complaining at all.  I had a great time socializing, and getting a few things done, however… it was so nice to get back to my own bed!

Today was the first day of Online Card Classes –  His & Hers!!!  How exciting!!! I really need this class you see, because, well… I’m a her and I have 2 her children and well… I’m good at “her” cards, but no so much “his”.  I’m CERTAIN this class will help.  Oh and if you’ve never taken one of their classes you really need to check it out!

Here is my “HER” card.  I just *LOVE* this stamp set and well, I hope you guys never get sick of it because well… it’s my favorite and really has become my “go to” set.  I really think Kristina hit the mark with this one… all around.  This set coupled with Hero Arts – Mid-Tone Shadow inks – a match made in heaven.  I hope you like it.

Now here is my “HIS” card and I have to say… I really like it!  I used a shadow stamp technique – one I’ve not ever used before and well… I dig it!  I hope you enjoy it!

Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge #169

Hello Everyone!  Happy Sunday!  It was a laid back weekend in our home this weekend.  J hasn’t been feeling the greatest, so lots of rest for him and well, lots of crafting time for me.  It’s been a good day.  Actually, it’s been a GREAT day!  What makes it so great you ask?  Well, for me… simply being RETWEETED by @SimonSaysStamp!!!!  It truly made my day and sent people to my Instagram account that wouldn’t have normally made it there.  People were “liking” my cards & pictures and well… it just felt good! 😀

I have been crafting today.  Every Sunday a new sketch challenge comes out from Operation Write Home and I decided to join in the fun early this week.  I won’t be doing much crafting this week because i’ll be getting ready for next weekend’s crop, so… this blog post might be the last until after I come home.  We’ll have to see how the week goes.  So far, I’ve got nothing done… SURPRISE!  😀  I work best under PRESSURE!  So here is this week’s sketch:

The Memory Nest – Sketch Challenge Tuesday

sketch

Hello Everyone! I hope everyone is having a good week.  I decided to do the sketch challenge from The Memory Nest using the April 2013 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit.  It’s a little on the busy side, but the more I look at it, the more okay I am with it!  I definitely believe some sketches are better as scrapbook layouts and this was one of them! Perhaps if I did a larger card and had more white space, it would be better.  I will be using this sketch on one of my layouts when I attend the next crop.  I do love it!  So, here is the sketch:

Two Days in a Row! What?!?!

Yes, that’s right.  It’s me again!  I really didn’t have any intention of card making this evening, let along blogging, but with the recent events of today, I thought it best.  Just needed to get my mind off of all the horrific news.  God bless the victims and their families.  May he give them the strength to get through today, tomorrow and every day hereafter.  My heart is broken.

So, I had EVERY intention of coming home from work and… napping!  Izzy had us up most of the night last night with tummy troubles, so I was one tired momma, but I knew if I napped that I would wake up later and then be up most of the night again.  It’s a vicious cycle, so I’m pushing myself to make it to 11pm!  I’m almost there!

I finished up a few cards that I had lying on my desk and then I pulled out the Simon Say’s Stamp – April 2013 Card Kit!  Wow!  I love the papers in this kit and could hardly wait to start using it.  The stamp set is fabulous as well.  Here is what I came up with.  I hope you like it.

Well, that’s all for tonight.  Please say a prayer for Boston.  If you don’t pray, that’s ok too… Please think good thoughts and send healing vibes!  Thank you.

Peace Out!

What I’ve Been Up To…

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted, so I thought I would give you a little update on what I’ve been busy doing.  Perhaps even a card IF it’s finished by the time I decide to publish this post!

So, here is what’s been going on.  I’ve literally spent the last 4 straight days with Britta Swiderski!  I know, you’re jealous, aren’t you?  As well you should be!  Alright, so maybe I haven’t REALLY spent the last 4 days WITH the uber talented Britta, but… minor details, minor details.  And for her sake, as I’m old enough to be her mother, it’s probably for the best!  😀  So, truth be told, I’ve been taking her self-paced Inspiration University – Design Principles class! And LOVING it!  It’s perfect for someone like me.  My background is in CIS and I work for a chemical company as a Quality Analyst.  There is no art or design in any of that… really.  The only thing I could honestly say I had any knowledge in prior was color.  That being said, you should check it out too!

In other news, my quest to organize continues.  J and I had a laugh about it yesterday as I tried explaining how I’m really trying to organize and his response was… “Well, the guy in the brown truck and SOMETIMES the guy in the white truck seems to keep dropping off boxes!”  LOL!  😀  Yeah, ok, so he’s right.  Bleh.

Saturday I spent most of the morning organizing my stamps, with a little help from my friend Jennifer McGuire… or at least with some of her great ideas that you can read about here.  I organized and I organized, until I ran out of Avery Elle Stamp Storage Pockets!!!  And here is the final result… sorry about the quick Instagram photo.

IMG_1746

So, I’m thinking that I need more stamps!  I clearly don’t have enough!  😀  Hey, the economy has really been in the tank lately and I’m proud to say that it hasn’t been because of me!  😀  In fact, I’d like to think that USPS had to rethink their elimination of the Saturday delivery because of me!  😀  You can thank me later!  😀

Finished the cards… or should I say card?  I actually created 2 cards with 1 stamp.  This stamp had been calling my name EVERY time I would go to the store.  I would pick it up, look at it, think about how I could use it and then, put it back down again.  Meh.  The very last time, it called my name in a big way – it was marked down.  So, I caved.

I’ll show you the first one I did, which I really don’t like all that much, simply as a lesson learned kinda thing.  It didn’t work.  I’m not sure how it would have looked had a chose a lighter patterned card stock.  Perhaps better, perhaps not.  I stamped the image on patterned paper with Momento Tuxedo black and colored with Copics… lots of them!  Now… don’t go clicking the little X at the top of this page to close my blog just yet!  I know this card is kinda eh and I really should have tossed it rather than spend time on it, but…. the 2nd card…. I like… in fact… I heart it very friggen much!  😀  So… here is the fail first card.

IMG_6349

Here is the 2nd card.  More of a vintagy feel.  I embossed the pattern paper and then painted it with my distress inks!  A much nicer look and I hope you agree!

I left them both sentiment-less.  I just didn’t think they needed one.  So, that’s what I’ve been up to!

Love Never Ends…

Hello my friends.  I spent many hours last night working on a very special card.  When I was a teenager, my parents were very involved in the local Fire Department and became really good friends with another couple there.  Two of their daughters were my parent’s God Children.  I used to babysit for them.  First Wendy & Heather and then… baby Kristin when she was born.  Such a sweet baby… such a sweet baby who is getting married in 56 days to a guy she has been with for the last 15 years.  FINALLY! – She would agree.  Anyway, this card had to be SPECIAL and I have to say, when I was done… I loved it.  Just love the digistamps at Wee Stamps. And I finally feel like I’m getting the hang of this Copics thing.  Here is my card.

IMG_6311

Aren’t they just darling.  A couple things I wanted to mention as the camera just doesn’t seem to pick them up well.  I used Distress Stickles – Rock Candy on the sleeves & ruffles of her dress to make it look sheer.  I also used Glossy accents on the heart.

It was a busy weekend for us.  My little one had a birthday party today as well and how can I NOT make a card?!?!  Anyway, I saw this digistamp at Wee Stamp and I knew it was the one.  The little girl looked just like Jilli!!  So, here she is.

I hope you enjoyed these cards as much as I enjoyed making them.  Hope you’re having a crafty weekend!

At long last… I made a card!

Hello Everyone! I made a card today. Now, normally, this would be no big deal, but considering the amount of time I spent looking for a lost stamp, it’s amazing the card ever got finished! And no, I’ve not found said missing stamp… yet! It’ll show up just as I click the submit button to order a replacement… just as my die did! Yea, that was earlier in the week.

Anywho… I had been thinking about this card all day today. Yesterday, I received in the mail, some “Happy Mail” and for those of us crafty folk, we know that means Crafty Goodness! So, the crafty goodness of the day was MORE Washi tape. Now I emphasize MORE as I’ve got quite the little collection going on. Not as much as SOME, who shall remain nameless, but a collection nonetheless. Now, this isn’t a huge deal to most, but uhmm.. I can count on 1 hand, ok, maybe 1 finger how many times I’ve put the stuff on a card! I use it to hold my dies, but… that’s about it! Anyway, I thought of the lovely patterned Washi tape I received yesterday. Brilliant colors that matched my Hero Art Mid-Tone Shadow inks – Yummy stuff, I tell you! So, I decided that the next few cards I make… MUST have Washi tape! Here is the first card.
