Creativity…

So, I was chit-chatting with a friend the other day who had asked me to accompany her craft shopping.  She was contemplating buying a Cricut, but I had to admit to her that I wasn’t the one to ask about the latest and greatest Cricut.  I have a Silhouette Cameo and as much as I might like to, right now I really can’t justify the expense of another digital cutter. My husband would kill me… dead.  😀

Anyway, I had sent her some links to a couple of the Meetup Groups I’m in for scrapbooking, trying to encourage her to join me, but said friend told me she wasn’t very creative.  <gasp>  Now granted, you have to have SOME creativity for scrapbooking, but now a day’s the companies make it so easy.  Close to My Heart, for example… they offer Workshops on the Go for both scrapbooking and card-making.  These kits have everything you need – patterned paper, cardstock, embellishments AND an instructional guide to create layouts if you choose to use theirs.  What I also noticed, just the other day in fact, is that on the zip strip  of each patterned paper it lists the colors of ink and cardstock that would go with the patterned paper.  It doesn’t get much simpler than that!  Love it!

So, tonight… I pulled out a Workshop on the Go and headed to Pinterest for a sketch.  Here’s the one I settled on:

And this is what I’ve come up with:

So my friend (who shall remain nameless.. ahem.. Karen)… I DO think you can do this.  In fact, I know you can!  Looking forward to you joining me!

Peace Out!  Ohhhh and check out my CTMH page!!!

Wow! Do I remember how to do this???

Yes, it’s been that long!  It’s been so long that it all feels new to me.  I could give you a million reasons why I haven’t posted… why I haven’t stamped… why I haven’t scrapped… yada, yada, yada.  Eh… it just happens.  Anyway, I made a card. Yes, yes I did.

I wasn’t really sure where to start, so I started with a sketch and a kit.

Here is the sketch I used from Operation Write Home – Sketch 233.

I also used the Simon Says Stamp June 2014 Kit of the Month.  It doesn’t seem to be available any longer, but I will link the stamp set below.  Anyway, I made my card and then I got a bit carried away and made 4 more.  More than I’ve made in the last year.  Here is the first one:

I like the first card I did.  The ONLY thing I’m a little disappointed in is that I didn’t have any decent off white paper to stamp on which is why you see the spotchy flowers.

Here are the rest:

So… Here you have it!  I crafted AND I blogged!  😀  And let me tell you… the blogging took a lot longer than I anticipated.  A new computer, trying to figure out Lightroom & WordPress… Just whooped me!  😀  I hope you enjoyed them.

Peace Out!

Struggling with Masculinity…

Yeah… the title kind of makes you wonder about me, doesn’t it?  LOL!  😀  Actually what I REALLY struggle with is making masculine cards.  I’m a female… I have 2 daughters.  I’m a flowery, feminine kinda crafter, so jumping OUT of that box is scary.  I’ve not done it often, as you can see by scrolling through my blog.

So today’s card… MASCULINE.  I found this cute little “Whimsy Turtle” digital image by Katie Sowa at Whimsy Stamps.  Is it too adorable to be masculine?  Bleh… whatever!  😀  Anyway, colored him with Copic markers & paired him with some masculine patterned paper & card stock and voila – MASCULINE!

I hope you enjoyed my card!  Have a great week!

Gelatos Anyone?

Wow… it’s been almost 2 weeks since I posted!  I apologize, life is just getting in the way right now.  It’s not as if I’m not creating, because I am.  I just haven’t had much time to spend on a card that I consider “blog-worthy”.  Anyway, I made these cards a couple months ago, just never posted them.  So, today… is the day!

Gelatos? Well, the last I knew you could get a Gelato in Little Italy.

gelato

… a truly yummy treat, however… in the paper-crafting world, Faber Castell has taken “Gelatos” to a whole new level.  Hmm… how to describe them?  They’re like paint in a chapstick container!  They are so smooth and go on so easily.  You can use them “as is” or use them with water!  The colors are so intense and they blend so nicely!

FCGelato

My first attempt was to take the colors and color directly on the stamp.  Then I took a mini-mister filled with water, sprayed my stamp and then stamped the paper!  Not bad!  Simple and so pretty!

My 2nd attempt was to use another product that I hadn’t used before.  Gesso!  I didn’t even know HOW to use it, so I set off to do some research.  I decided in the end to just put some down haphazardly onto my card-stock that I had already misted with Dylusions Spray Ink.  I smoothed it out, somewhat and then I applied Versamark to the background stamp and stamped the Gesso, giving it a lot of texture.  Then I impatiently waited for it to dry.  I’m not good at waiting, so I ended up using my heat gun to help speed up the process.  Then I just started coloring on the color, taking my finger and blending them out.  A very cool and “new for me” technique.

So… take a minute and comment below.  Tell me what you think.  I’d like to know if you have used Gelatos before and perhaps what different techniques you have tried.  Thanks for taking the time to visit!

Peace Out!

What a Week!

And I can’t say I’m sorry it’s over!  The 3rd week in May is typically worse than any other week of the year – as busyness is concerned.  I *LOVE* celebrating the birth of my babies, but did they BOTH have to be born the same week (different years of course)?  And did my youngest have to be born on *MY* birthday?  Yes, she did!  Best birthday present ever and well, my husband hasn’t been able to top it yet.  Perhaps that’s why he has stopped trying.  LOL!  Anyway, all this… 3 birthdays and add some health issues for my husband, which includes 2 hospital visits and 1 doctor visit makes for a very difficult week.

Krystina’s 19th birthday was on Monday.  She had to work, so we weren’t able to do much of anything.  We gave her her presents when she came home and a happy girl she was.  Here is the card I made for her.  I just love Sherri Baldy My Besties stamps!  This one, Gill, reminds me so much of my daughter Krystina.

Izabella’s 6th birthday was on Friday as well as my 29th & a bit.  Here is the card I made for her – Mabel Rose.

I hope you enjoyed my cards and I’m very much looking forward to a peaceful week!

His & Hers – Day 4 and a Bonus Card!

HH_participant

Hello Everyone!  I know it’s been a few days or so, but it doesn’t mean I haven’t been up to anything crafty!  I made these next two cards last week for His & Her’s Online Card Classes, but haven’t found the time to post them yet.  Yesterday I spent the entire day scrapbooking for National Scrapbook Day!!!  So, back to cards I am!  I’ve really been enjoying this class, but I’m not surprised.  I’ve enjoyed every one I’ve every taken.  Here are the cards I’ve made with MUCH inspiration from the beautifully talented Jennifer McGuire!  Here is my “HER” card:

And here is my “HIS” card!

I hope you enjoyed them.  See below for a list of supplies.

Now for my bonus card.  Izzy (my 5 year old) had a birthday party to go to today, so I made her little friend a card.  I hope she likes it!  Printed ribbon – Do you KNOW how difficult it is to tie printed (on one side) into a bow?!?!?  VERY! – but I think I managed it!  The image is “Gracie” by Kathryne and can be purchased at Whimsy Stamps. Enjoy!

The Memory Nest – Sketch Challenge Tuesday

sketch

Hello Everyone! I hope everyone is having a good week.  I decided to do the sketch challenge from The Memory Nest using the April 2013 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit.  It’s a little on the busy side, but the more I look at it, the more okay I am with it!  I definitely believe some sketches are better as scrapbook layouts and this was one of them! Perhaps if I did a larger card and had more white space, it would be better.  I will be using this sketch on one of my layouts when I attend the next crop.  I do love it!  So, here is the sketch:

And here is my take on the sketch.  I hope you like it.

Pattern Play & Some Challenges

PP_participant

Hello everyone! It’s been awhile or at least quite a few days.  I have to say, once again, I LOVED Pattern Play from OnlineCardClasses and I can’t wait for the next class!  I wasn’t able to make too many cards during the class, but the last few I have made are definitely inspired by what I learned. I like this card because it’s simple and it’s a great way to use up those large patterned papers that you’re just not so sure of.

IMG_6261

Here is another card that was inspired by Pattern Play.  I also used a sketch from RetroSketches and will enter it into their weekly challenge.  I can’t say I’m a fan of paper weaving, but… I gave it a shot.  Here is the sketch:

And the card I made from the sketch.  It’s okay… I do like the paper I chose!

IMG_6263

My final card for this post was inspired by the weekly sketch challenge at Operation Write Home.  Here is the sketch:

And here is my card.  I don’t know about you… but I just HEART those Hero Art Mid-Tone Shadow inks!  They are YUMMY!

Online Card Class – Pattern Play – Day 2!

Hello Everyone! I am just really loving Pattern Play!  I did some stamping on pattern paper today, which I’d never done previously.  I won’t bore you by carrying on today, I’ll just show you the cards I made.
